Developing and building a website is a stepwise process requiring professional handling and outlook. Many options are available in the market for designing a website and keep it running. There are many good web development tools available for the website builders.

The first and foremost thing is to decide on the aim of your website and for what purpose it is being created. It can be just to convey any information or for any buying and selling purpose. In case the website is developed for personal use like sharing the information regarding certain products, interests, market research, etc with family, friends or others then its development is not so difficult. Whereas if the website is aimed at generating money, any market research before its creation is certainly a big issue. Range of products that you choose might be related to your field of interest or in which you have expertise. Whatever is the case, company must know whether there is market demand of their range of products/services.

The most important thing that comes in mind for web development is how should the website be built. For site building many options are available that have their own set of pros and cons. For instance developer can build a website from start using programs like CSS and HTML. It enables the user to practice complete control over their website. Companies also purchase web templates and insert them with the relevant information. The products and information can be tangible in nature. There are many website development companies that sell websites with preloaded products. Many of such websites also gives the opportunity to customize website look and the product types intended to be sold.

Such sites usually allows to function in a quicker manner and provides control on the way your website would look.

All website owners that develop sites have some common goals like getting more visitors traffic, have proper online presence, customers having instant access to information and range of products or services and so on. Web development helps in creating greater brand value among the net users, also automize the business workflow. A well developed site has many features like view reports, remote login, order taking, share opinions, etc.

After the task of website development is completed you have to take care of another aspects like SEO, internet marketing, search engine submission, etc. The web development companies help their clients to get access to all these types of services.

Building a website does not have to cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars as some people expect it to. With the right software you can be up and running in no time, without needing to empty your bank account. While it makes sense for certain websites to use solely static HTML, it is not necessary for you to learn how to code a page from scratch to build a successful website. In fact very few websites are still built like this. Today’s Internet is dynamic, and most sites run software that sits like a thin layer on your server.

That means, unless you are more technical inclined, you won’t need to touch any source code to get started publishing your content. The software handles all aspects of storing and managing your content for you. You will also be able to pick from a multitude of free and commercial themes to spice up the looks of your web property. If you want to, you can still invest in a custom designed theme template now or at a later time.

So, how much does this awesome software cost? Here is the best part: One of the most feature-rich and user-friendly applications, WordPress, is completely free! The only thing you really need to invest in upfront is a domain name and a good, i.e.. reliable, web host. A domain name will cost around $10 a year, while reliable hosting does not have to cost more than $5-10 a month. Choosing the right host is crucial, since an unreliable host usually leads to a lot of headaches and may seriously damage your website’s rankings. I’ve gone through several hosts, until I’ve found one that has not let me down.

Don’t know where to go from here? Don’t worry we’ve all been there, click here and save yourself some time and money. Find step by step tutorials on my website, MakeAWebsite101.net and get started today.

Do you have an idea for a website? Well then, now is the time to make your own website! But where do you get started? Making your own website might sound like a complicated task, but really isn’t once you learn the basics.

Let’s assume that you already picked out the topic, and you’re ready to make your own website. For ease I am going to use bubble gum as an example topic. Since we’re going to make a website about bubble gum, we have our primary keyword. Don’t worry if you think that this has nothing to do with how to make your own website, this will become apparent in a moment.

One of the first choirs you should get done before you make your own website is see how competitive your chosen niche is. In our example that would be bubble gum. This is a very important part of making your own website. If the niche you’ve chosen is too competitive, you don’t have a very good chance of ranking high when a user performs a search.

Does bubble gum have a lot of competition? Go to the search engine of your choice and do an exact search for your keyword. How many pages come up when you perform a search? For sake of simplicity, lets say there are 1000 websites out there. Now, before you make your own website, you need to see how many people search for the topic.

This is done by checking the search volume for the word you enter in the search engine. There are numerous tools out there that give you this information.

Again to keep things from getting complicated, we’ll say 500 people search for bubble gum each month. So from this we can see that there are 2 sites for every searcher. While hard to believe this is a good ratio, and a good niche to make your own website in.

We’ve seen from our initial research that we have a chance to rank for our theme. The next thing to do when you make your own website is register a domain name. You’ll want to make your keyword part of your domain name. So continuing with our example, the URL could look like bubble-gum-example.com

When you make your own website, you will want to stay with a single theme. The more targeted it is, the stronger your content becomes, and the more authority your website will have. Many people make a website and fill it with anything and everything. While this is fine, if you want to make your own website and at the same time make it a successful one, it is important to stay focused.

One thing to keep in mind when you make your own website, the web is a very competitive place. And it doesn’t matter if your reason for making your own website is recreation, sharing of knowledge, or to earn an income (better yet, all three), there will be competition. This is the reason you will want to stay focused on one topic of interest when you make your own website.

If you have lots of topics of interest, make your own website about each topic.

Now that we have a domain name picked out, it is time to make your own website. To do this, you will either need to learn how to code a page from scratch, use an editor (something I strongly discourage) or utilize content management or blogging software to make your own website.

One that I often suggest is WordPress. WordPress allows you make your own website easier and more advanced than if you would spend several years learning to code your own website. And the best part is that it can be modified with themes and plugins to suite most of your needs. This simplifies the task of making the task of making your own website. And the best part, WordPress has a vast pool of professional themes and plugins released by the community that you can download for free.

Now that we have covered the first steps involved in making your own website, lets talk about one of the last steps: Web hosting.

What is a web host, and what role do they play when you make your own website? Let’s go back to our bubble gum example for a second. But instead of a website, lets look at it as a real world example. Your domain name is the equivalent to an address. But just because you have an address doesn’t mean you have a store. An address can also refer to an empty lot in our real world example.

When you make your own website, you also need more than an address, you need the store. That is where web hosting comes into play It is like a building for your bubble gum store.

Just like with various qualities of property, not all web hosts are created equal, nor will they all meet your needs when you make your own website.

When you make your own website, you need to layout the different requirements your website will have. Is it going to be blogging orientated, requiring numerous calls to a database, use simple static pages, require credit card payments, or simply be a place for you to share photos with your family and friends. As you can see, these are just a couple of possibilities. When you make your own website, your own special needs will need to be addressed before you pick out your web host.

As I already mentioned you might want to look into WordPress. While most web hosts offer this as a feature, they might not have enough server power in their basic plan to give you adequate performance. Also it might be worth noting that in the future your website’s speed will play a more important role for ranking in the search engines.

When you try a new host, you might want to make it a habit of only registering for a month. Most web hosts offer such a short time span. And while they usually make special offers if you register for longer periods, do you really want to be locked into a year long contract for a service you’re not happy with? I have even seen one that offers a 45 day trial period, with the first month costing you only a penny. When you make your own website, especially when you register with a new host, a 45 day trial allows you to evaluate their service. If you’re still not sure after a month, renew it for another month or look for another provider. But don’t settle for a sub par host.

Making your own website should be a fun experience, and while it has a higher learning curve, it is always a rewarding feeling when your website goes live.

This article covered the basic steps to make your own website, click here for the next step.

Not very long back, you had only two choices to create a website- either outsource it or learn the complete HTML. Today’s internet marketer has many more options available that would help you build your site faster.

Apart from HTML, PHP is another language that is commonly used to build the websites. Your web site may just be a one page HTML site or interactive site with lots of content in it. While HTML perfectly suits the former, PHP comes handy in building the latter. You may also like to use databases in case of large websites.

However, for the beginners, HTML is the easiest and quickest option. As I said above now a days you do not need to learn HTML completely. (But it would always be a great help in tweaking your web pages and would save you a lot of headaches if you know the basics.)

These resources would be a great help if you wish to learn HTML basics and advanced.

Sizzling HTML Jalfrezi – jalfrezi.com/

HTML – An Interactive Tutorial For Beginners -davesite.com/webstation/html/

You can find more resources by searching on Google.

But you can create a web page without knowing HTML. This has been made possible with arrival of WYSIWYG editors. Pronounced “whizzy whig”, these programs allow beginners to build complex pages by simply “dragging and dropping” onto the work area. WYSIWYG stands for “What you see is what you get”. These editors allow you to work on an interface that is simple and almost represents the final appearance of your website. All the HTML and other coding go behind the scenes.

There are many WYSIWYG editors available but most common are

    * Dreamweavor- macromedia.com/software/dreamweaver/

    * FrontPage- microsoft.com/frontpage/

    * Adobe GoLive- adobe.com/

All of these come at a good price. Arachnophilia is a free software and you might like to test your skills on it.

    * Arachnophilia- arachnoid.com/

    * Nvu (pronounced N-view)is another WYSIWYG editor which is open source and does not charge anything. It is good and you can download it here-http://nvu.com

PHP is more complex than HTML and if you wish to make a website in PHP it is better to find an expert.

Website builders are WYSIWYG editors which are web based rather than running on you computers. Most of the hosts are now offering website builder access in their packages. Check if your host has got one.

Host Gator, my recommended host does. You can check them here.

Another option is to use Content Management System. If you do not wish to go through the hassles of building webpages and uploading them, you can use content management systems. They are mostly free, also come with the package of web hosting and mostly can be installed with one click. All you need after that is to choose a suitable theme and add pages. Layout and categorization is handled by CMS itself. Mambo, Joomla and Drupal are commonly used CMSs.

Similarly, you can also choose to use blogs for this purpose. Most recommended blog platform is WordPress.

However you would have to play a little with CMS and blogs before you can fully master them.

Most of beginning websites are of few pages at the most. It is better to build them in WYSIWYG editors. Simultaneously you can learn other things and finally improve upon your site.
